    General information

 By taking three neighbourhoods in Kaisersesch, Bedburg and Essen as examples, SmartQuart aims to show that the move towards a climate-neutral energy supply within a neighbourhood and in cooperation with surrounding neighbourhoods is already technically and economically feasible today. As many stakeholders as possible are involved in the development of these innovative systems from the outset. The neighbourhood in Essen focuses on the implementation of decarbonisation measures in existing buildings in urban areas. These are typical urban properties such as public buildings, commercial properties, mixed-use buildings and residential buildings.
