Stadtquartier 2050 – real-world laboratory Stuttgart

General information

The capital city of Stuttgart and the large district town of Überlingen on Lake Constance worked together with eleven other partners on the flagship project ‘STADTQUARTIER 2050’ with the aim of converting two urban residential areas into socially acceptable, climate-neutral areas and transferring the concepts to other districts. The Bürgerhospital area was to make a significant contribution to achieving Stuttgart's goal of becoming a ‘climate-neutral municipality by 2050’. The approximately 4-hectare property on Türlenstraße is located near the city centre, northwest of Stuttgart's main railway station, and was closed as a hospital building in 2015. The real-world laboratory is currently on hold due to the need to accommodate refugees.
